Where music is a part of you
After years of travel and teaching in mainstream and Steiner classrooms, I am using my knowledge and experience to bring a new way of approaching learning about life - through music, tutoring and therapeutic mentoring.
Musical Moments with Mike
A baby, toddler and preschool music group that uses repetition and seasonal songs to provide comfort, anticipation and gentle development. (Under 5s and their carer(s)). Now with extra sessions at the RAMM focusing on musical cultures around the world!
Life is Music
1:1 or small group music sessions that focus on developing musical confidence and technical understanding while raising self-esteem, growing the ability to feel and join in with the music that is all around us. (children and adults)
Music Together
A group music session that uses fun musical games and facilitation techniques to bring about a sense of community and self-worth through music. (5 - 13 year-olds)
Music as the Vehicle
Tutoring sessions that use musical and movement methods to learn concepts in a meaningful and lasting way.
Therapeutic Mentoring
A person-focused session, utilising whatever of the above sessions is needed, taking the time to build strong relationships, work through difficulties and relight the inner fire.
I studied Ethnomusicology (the study of music and culture and how they interact) at degree level and have over a decade of experience teaching in multiple settings and with a range of ages. I have a particular interest in sharing passions and getting others excited about learning. With Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an Enhanced DBS check (registered with the update service), I ensure learning is fun and engaging. Also a certified yoga instructor, ski and snowboard instructor, world traveller and experienced meditator, I use my wide range of experienced to imbue my sessions with a sense of wonder and beauty.

*Sliding Scale Guidelines
Due to their deep connection to life, quality musical experiences should be available to everyone. To help as many people as possible access my groups, I offer them on a sliding scale when you book a block. Our beautiful community has many different people with a wide range of access to resources. With each other’s support, we can help break down barriers to accessing music. Sliding scales work best when there are clear guidelines and when people are honest in their use. I offer this honour-based sliding scale as a spectrum, allowing you to pay what you feel is right for you.
Supporting (£7-£9 per session)
This end of the spectrum is for you if you have strong financial security and can afford many amenities that go above and beyond your basic needs. This might include, but is not limited to, having enough money to: comfortably not work; regularly eat out at nice restaurants; take regular plane-based holidays; attend regular wellness classes; and/or have the majority of your wants met. If this describes your financial situation, please pay above the standard rate to support those who do not have the same level of access to financial security.
Standard (£6 per session)
This is the standard price that I would charge everyone for the session in the absence of a sliding scale. Please pay this amount if you honestly don’t feel yourself reflected by any of the other descriptions and can not pay the supporting price.
Supported (£3 - £5 per session)
This end of the spectrum is for those who may struggle to provide basic needs such as housing, food and clothing or are financially debilitated by debt. Please pay what you can if paying for these groups would mean cutting into your budget for your basic necessities. This end of the spectrum is also for people who have suffered generational and/or systemic disadvantages with accessing resources.
No Barriers to Music (free)
A limited number of free spaces are available for those who can not afford to pay anything. Please don’t let money stop you from connecting the music inside you to the music around you.
